It’s the season of love and we’ve got a Valentine-inspired playlist just for your acoustic-covered heart!
This year’s Come on, indie love 2015 playlist is packed-full of acoustic covers of classics, best enjoyed with your favorite box ‘o chocolates. heart-shaped cookies and the one who holds your heart — including versions of vintage tracks like Grease’s You’re The One That I Want and The Everly Brothers’ All I Have to Do Is Dream, 80’s faves like the Boss’ Hungry Heart and I’m On Fire, Steve Winwood’s Higher Love, and a-ha’s Take On Me, remixed versions of 90’s hits like Tupac’s California Love and Spice Girls’ Say You’ll Be There, newer tunes like Death Cab For Cutie’s I Will Follow You Into the Dark, Taylor Swift’s You Belong with Me, The Knife’s Heartbeats, and Beyoncé‘s Crazy in Love, sprinkled with original releases from some of our favorite indie artists like Brandi Carlile, Camera Obscura and Gregory Alan Isakov.
The Traverse City music scene was lucky enough to host two of the wonderful artists featured on the playlist during this past year — Brandi Carlile and Gregory Alan Isakov. We were able to see Gregory at the City Opera House recently and it was truly a magical experience. He and the musicians he shared the stage with (included TC native, Phillip Parker) are so incredibly talented and it was truly mesmerizing and inspiring to see them perform live!
As always, our goal when mixing these ‘tapes’ is for listeners to enjoy all year ’round. Take a listen, share the mixtape love with your favorite humans in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, and let us know what you think! Any favorite acoustic versions of love songs you would add?
